APRIL 27 LECTURE 27 of the DVD series Exploring the Roots of Religion: TOPIC: DESERT LINES AT NAZCA: This lecture will discuss the unique elements of NAZCA. The NAZCA culture was not fully appreciated till the 20th century, when pilots flying over the remote and bone dry coastal desert west of the skull, Peru sawed gigantic line drawings on the bare earth below them__over 100 spiders, hummingbirds, monkeys, and other figures both realistic and abstract. At 200 square miles and NAZCA dessert ranks as the largest sacred landscape ever created. Suggested reading: Aveni, People and the Sky. (Midge)
